With the help of a friend, Betty Woodall, I have finally finished walking this cemtery. I have included a Section Number with the names on all the tombstones or Funeral Home Markers that we found. There are over 7,000 gravesites in this cemetery. Most of the names that I started this listing with were names that I needed for my own research. Several other researchers have sent me names of their family to include. Many thanks to them. If you have someone that is buried here, I will be glad to include their name as well as a link to you. All you have to do is let me know.

Lawrence Memorial Cemetery was started in 1910 when W.R. Lane set aside 20 acres of his farming land to be used as a cemetery. The land was marked off for burial lots to be sold with driveways between. The first buiral in this section was Max Watkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Watkins aged three years. In 1929, Mr. Lucian Andrews set aside 10 acres of land joining the first plot on the north. It was also marked off in burial lots with driveways. The first burial in this addition was C. Marshal Andrews in 1930. He was the brother of Lucian Andrews. The Lane part of the cemetery was sold to Higginbotham Funeral Service some time later.

I have been including deaths listed in the Times Dispatch Newspaper from Walnut Ridge. In some cases the birth date was not given. In those cases I listed "no date" as a birth date. This does not mean that a birth is not included on their monument.
